A writing spell for healing

Pre-Writing Meditation

Take a moment to soften. Coax your heart open. Breathe deeply — loose, whole, beautiful. Shut the door on fear, or sit with it and listen. Step inside yourself, into that vast and gilded place. Let the waters of truth wash over you — your feet, your hands, your tenderness. Stand in front of the mirror. Look at the wound. Meet it with grace. With compassion. Let the scars soften. Let the tissue expand, ready to hold you, ready to be held. This is the heart’s kingdom.

What happens when you acknowledge the wound?

This is the moment to write.

The Writing Practice: A Healing Spell Poem in 11 Lines

First, write five lines describing your wound as you experience it today. What color is it? What shape? What mood? Is it a dull ache, a sharp edge? Is it blue and endless? Is it exhaustion? Is it the beast of loneliness, of scarcity, of grief?

Next, write five lines describing the medicine for this wound. Is it sunlight on water? A burial? A refusal? An acceptance? A home? A boundary? A voice? You already know what heals you — trust that knowing.

Finally, the last line, and this is when you cast your spell. What will you tell the ocean about your pain? What is your greatest hope? Your deepest belief in relief, in healing, in yourself? Pour everything into this.
