Singing our grief | 2.21.25

I have been collaborating with the Salt Trails beauties for the last couple of years and one of our regular offerings is a monthly event called Singing Our Grief. Now, I am not a singer — at least not in public — so you know I have to really believe in this endeavor if I am willingly engaging in something I find a little scary. The research and lived experience of singing collectively are clear. These are edifying experiences of communal expression. Everyone present joins in whatever level they feel they have capacity for (and there are so few places in our society we can do that) and it turns out, that is something we often sorely need.

Please holler if you have questions, I would be happy to answer. For those of you who are current clients, yes, I will be present and helping to facilitate. You are still very much welcome to attend.

“No one owes the world their misery. What we owe is our active participation in finding creative and compassionate paths forward... If we consciously fuel our joy, if we put our attention on the world’s beauty, we will have far more strength and stamina to show up to the world’s pain.” ~ @andreagibson

From the moment Salt Trails began, one of our intentions has been to make beauty from our grief. We invite you to join us on Friday, February 21st, for Singing Our Grief at @chestnuthillunitedchurch.

Together, we will raise our voices in collective grief and love, lighting the way through this cold, dark season together, finding fortification in the ancient medicines of song, movement and poetry. Weaving beauty from our heartache.
